REPORT ON GAYLORDSVILLE AQUIFER
This
aquifer extends about 1-1/2 mile along the gravel terrace
and flood plain of the river, including only the lower reach
of Wimisink Brook but extending a short distance up the valley
of Morrissey Brook.
Residential and a few commercial uses are distributed along
the frontage of Route 7, including the village area. Land
development includes scattered residential, a gravel mine,
and some agricultural use in the balance of the area. Zoning
includes a small general business area in Gaylordsville village,
and low-density residential (one and two-acre). Some wetlands
lie along the river and smaller streams.
Desirable
groundwater protection measures include prohibition of harmful
discharges, wetlands and flood plain preservation, and strict
standards for on-site sewage disposal.
